Maroon 5 bassist and founding member Mickey Madden has been arrested on alleged felony intimate partner violence charges in Los Angeles on Saturday, 27th June.

As Page Six reports, the specific charge is penal code 273.5(a), which refers to someone wilfully inflicting an injury that leaves a spouse or cohabitant “in a traumatic condition”. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the charge to the newspaper. Additionally, Pitchfork reports that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s inmate database confirms the news.

Madden has been released after posting $50,000 bail. The bassist is not married, and the identity of the alleged victim is not clear at this time.

Speaking to Page Six, a representative for the band commented, “We are deeply devastated by this disappointing news. As we learn more, we are looking at this very seriously. For now, we are allowing all of the individuals involved the space to work things through.”

Madden has been a member of Maroon 5 since its inception, and was a member of early incarnation Kara’s Flowers with Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael and Ryan Dusick, which formed in 1994.
