Aussie actress Cate Blanchett features in Massive Attack‘s new music video, but probably not in the way that you’d expect.
In the band’s clip for The Spoils, featuring Hope Sandoval, director John Hillcoat places Blanchett’s head in front of a black background.
As the clip begins, her head rotates and her face begins to undergo some small changes, with the lighting changed and her hair also being altered.
But then things start to get a little weird. After a little while, Blanchett’s head is fully encased in plaster – and following that her skin peels off and she becomes a statue made of stone.
The tune itself is typically, brooding Massive Attack and the clip, as weird as it is, seems to suit the track to a tee.
