This week, when the above photo of Tash Sultana and Matt Corby hit social media, fans of both artists went into overdrive. A meeting of the minds, long overdue in the eyes of many has finally resulted in some new music – a new single called ‘Talk It Out’.
There’s a saying: life is what happens when we’re busy making other plans. This seems to have rung true for both Tash and Matt who, after having an initial jam sesh in 2017, both were led down hectic music making and touring paths of their own.
For Tash especially, the world’s stage has become very much the multi-instrumentalist’s own, buoyed on from the release of Flow State this year. For Corby too, his long-awaited return with his acclaimed Rainbow Valley album has propelled one of the country’s favourite artists back onto national and international radars.
Which brings us to ‘Talk It Out’. Delivered in an almost trademarked blissed out style that both Tash and Matt manoeuvre easily within, the single is spacious enough to let both their individual artistries shine, while very much demonstrating the duo’s strength as a partnership.
“It’s the first collaboration I’ve done with another artist that I’ve released.” Tash has said. “Matt is an amazing songwriter and instrumentalist. He’s also an absolutely awesome guy with a huge soul so it was a privilege to be a part of this project.”
“Tash has a musical beast living inside of [them],” Matt added. “I knew [they] could deal with whatever I threw at [them]. It was amazing to collaborate with someone like that, and have [them] throw [their] musical stylings all over the song.”
