Billboard.biz has reported that Michael Davis has passed away from liver failure at age 68.
Davis was the original bassist for the legendary punk rock band MC5 who are often attributed as inspiring other early punk rock acts. Davis also co-founded the Music Is Revolution Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that promoted music education in public schools. MC5 now has only two original surviving members in Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thompson.
After a being hospitalised for a month at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, Calif., Davis finally succumbed to liver disease on February 17, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Angela Davis, and his four children.
