Melbourne Hit With Exclusive Sidewaves “Extravaganza”

Melbourne has just won the Sidewave lottery. In what promises to be a week bigger than AJ Maddah’s Twitter addiction, the good people at Soundwave have announced an orgy of shows kicking off on Monday, February 23rd and running right through til Friday, February 27th, with kickarse bands playing every single night of the week.

The aforementioned kickarse bands include The Treatment, Butcher Babies, Fucked Up, Animals As Leaders, The Swellers, This Wild Life and The Aquabats!, who will be hitting the stage at beloved local haunts Cherry Bar and Ding Dong Lounge. The festival’s demand that we “forget sleep” now seems like an inevitability rather than an option.

In what we can only assume is a strategically timed love letter to Melbourne following earlier news that the city would receive “fuck all Sidewaves” this year, Soundwave is now pulling out all the stops in an effort to win back the heart of Australia’s live music capital.

It’s just a shame that they’ll now have to contend with people from every other city shouting, “Why Melbourne?!” Check out all the details of the Sidewaves Extravaganza below.

UPDATE 18/02/15: Local supports have been announced for all but one of the Melbourne shows in the upcoming Sidewaves “extravaganza”. Note that the local support for the Animals As Leaders Ding Dong Lounge show is yet to be announced. See all the added support acts below.
