Melbourne Music Week is entering its landmark 10th year of its existence, and to celebrate this huge anniversary the folks behind the event have lined up a huge bill.
This year’s festival hub will be Kubik, with the venue being situated in Alexandra Gardens on the bank of the Yarra River. This will also be the first year that the festival will be actively working to make the hub zero-waste.
Headlining this year’s festival, and kicking it all off, will be CC:Disco! who has spent the year making huge waves overseas. There’s a giant stack of other acts playing the event too, like Stonefield, Body Type, Total Control, Sarah Mary Chadwick, Robert Henke and many more.
Councillor Rohan Leppert, Chair of the Arts, Culture and Heritage portfolio of MMW, gave a statement about the importance of the event hitting its 10th birthday.
“Music is part of the fabric of Melbourne, and for 10 years we’ve worked hard to showcase the incredible wealth of musical talent we have to offer,” he said.
“We’ve also transformed some of the city’s most iconic, historic and unconventional spaces into music venues – from the Argus Building, to the State Library of Victoria, St Paul’s Cathedral and ACMI.”
“More than 350,000 music lovers have enjoyed what MMW has to offer over the past decade and we’re excited to get back to our roots at Kubikto celebrate MMW’s success in style.”
Tickets for Melbourne Music Week 2019 go on sale 10am Thursday, 26th September.
