Melbourne's King Parrot Want Your Help After Being Robbed In Chicago

Melbourne thrash metal favourites King Parrot are appealing to fans for assistance after their tour van was broken into in Chicago and a week’s worth of show and merchandise payments was stolen from them.

“Last night our van got broken into in Chicago. We lost a week of show and merch payments along with some valuable personal items. Stupid… Yeah we know,” wrote the band in statement on Facebook along with a photo of the van’s interior, covered in broken glass. They told fans the break-in happened while they were playing a show at Chicago venue Subterranean.

The Soundwave 2015 act are appealing for donations to help them recover their losses and continue their US tour. They’ve set up a PayPal account for anyone wishing to help and have promised anyone who donates $20 and over will “receive an exclusive gift from the band”. Their PayPal name is “kingparrotband@gmail.com”.

Fans have already begun donating it seems with the band taking to Facebook just an hour later with the message, “Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. We love you! We couldn’t do it without you and your support means everything to us. THANK YOU SO MUCH!”

Just last month King Parrot announced details of their new album, recorded with the help of former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo at his Nodferatu’s Lair studio in New Orleans. The band’s second full-length effort is titled Dead Set and will be released on May 15th, just in time for King Parrot to head out on a national tour.
