UPDATE: The full Meredith 2013 lineup is here!
Chic guitarist and Daft Punk collaborator Nile Rodgers is set to play Meredith Music Festival this December, with the disco legend letting the news slip via a gig listing on his official website, confirming a series of other dates around Australia and New Zealand in the process.
The 60-year-old producer, composer and all-around guitar hero listed the Saturday 14th December date for the festival, and is the first name to be leaked for arguably Australia’s finest festival, following Aunty Meredith’s announcement that this year’s festivities will take place on 13th through to the 15th December. The rest of the line-up should be expected for early August.
It won’t be the first time Rodgers has made an appearance at the Supernatural Ampitheatre – the disco legend played as part of Chic at Meredith’s little sister festival, Golden Plains, in 2012. Maybe this time he could bring his friends Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter if they’re free. They don’t have much going on right now.
According to his website, Rodgers will also be playing the Subsonic Music Festival in New South Wales on 5th and 6th December, as well as shows in Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
