Metallica To Tour Australia and New Zealand In November

Tragic metal fans rejoice. During a recent press conference in Bogotá, Columbia, Lars Ulrich of Metallica confirmed the band’s intention to tour down under in November.

When asked what was next for the band, Ulrich replied “we’re staying out and doing dates up till November, in Australia and New Zealand is where we’re heading in November and then after that we’re gonna take a little bit of chill time, ’cause it’s been a couple of years on the road, and then after that I think we’re just gonna go back and continue with another record. There’s no particular plans to do anything else.”

The massive World Magnetic tour, which started way back in October 2008, was originally slated to reach our shores in August 2009, but as yet still hasn’t featured any official announcement of Australian dates. If confirmed, this will be the first time Metallica tour here since their 2004 Big Day Out Appearances.

UPDATE: We’ve found some footage of the aforementioned press conference. Skip forward to around the 8 minute mark to hear Ulrich’s discussion of the Oceanic tour.
