‘Metalocalypse’ Director Jon Schnepp On Life Support Following “Catastrophic” Stroke

UPDATE: Jon Schnepp has passed away, after his family made the difficult decision to switch off his life support.

American film and TV producer, writer and key director of Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse animated series, Jon Schnepp, has been placed on life support following a “catastrophic” stroke he suffered earlier this month.

In a statement, Schnepp’s family say, “Our beloved Jon Schnepp suffered a catastrophic stroke on Thursday, July 12th.

“Jon is on life support at this time. While everyone is desperate for updates on his condition, we ask for your understanding on giving us the privacy we need over the next few days as we deal with the difficult decisions concerning Jon’s care.”

Actor Aaron Paul told his Twitter followers that he was “at a loss for words” over Schnepp’s hospitalisation.

“Jon is one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of working with and knowing for years,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rick & Morty co-creator Justin Roiland said, “I’ve know Jon Schnepp for a very long time and he’s always been the kindest guy.”

Schnepp’s fiancé Holly Payne has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for Schnepp’s recovery, which has already raised over USD$100,000.

On the page, Ms Payne said Schnepp’s illness is “life-threatening”, but told supporters “your well wishes have not gone unnoticed”.

“If you can contribute anything to his medical bills, that will help us both,” she wrote.

Schnepp directed 33 of Metalocalypse‘s 62 episodes, across four seasons. He is also known for his work on Collider Movie Talk, The Venture Brothers, Upright Citizens Brigade and the documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?.
