Mick Jagger Is Working On A Music Biopic Starring Leonardo DiCaprio

Mick Jagger is moving on from his canned HBO show Vinyl with another screen project, taking on a music biopic starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

As Variety report, Paramount Pictures have acquired the rights to a biography about 1950s music industry pioneer Sam Phillips, a man instrumental to the careers of artists like Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash.

Titled Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock ‘N’ Roll, the book was in-part penned by Jagger who will also be a producer of the film.

DiCaprio will play Phillips but it sounds like it’s a while off coming to fruition with sources indicating that this won’t be the actor’s next project. They are also on the look-out for a writer.

There’s pressure surrounding the next role DiCaprio he takes because his last film The Revenant earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Jagger’s last screen project Vinyl aired on HBO earlier this year but was largely panned by critics. It was renewed by HBO for a second season, however, that decision was reversed with HBO cancelling the show completely.
