Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding, otherwise known as the sprightly duo behind cult British television comedy series The Mighty Boosh, are reported to have finished work on their much-anticipated and long-awaited debut album.
Barratt – the tall, hairy one who plays Howard Moon in the BBC show – told the BBC that the LP was recorded at an exotic location as Electric Ladyland Studios in New York after original demos were made in the UK. The album has no release date, with Barratt confirming that the album is designed to tie in with a Mighty Boosh film, something equally long-awaited by fans.
Of the album, Barratt said, “We haven’t put it out yet but we’ve done the recording. It sounds good. We recorded it at Electric Ladyland studios – they did quite a good deal.”
Unfortunately, it may be a long wait before either album or film is released – it seems the latter has not even been written (although given the improvisatory nature of The Mighty Boosh, this is unlikely to be a huge problem, one would think). Barratt said, “We’re just waiting for a time to put it [the album] out really. I don’t know, when we get round to writing the next film or something we’ll tie it in and release it together.”
Barratt and Fielding have been largely out of the public eye since the third series of The Mighty Boosh, which aired way back in 2007. They do remain rather ubiquitous, mind you, across London society, as you can see below.
