Sydney’s own Montaigne has today announced details of her debut album Glorious Heights as well as a national tour in support of the album’s release. Set to be released on Friday 5th August, the album will feature Montaigne’s string of banger singles In The Dark, Clip My Wings, and recent release Because I Love You.
Having spent so much time cooped up in the studio recently though, Montaigne can’t wait to get out on the road and start playing these songs live.
“I think this will be the most fun tour yet,” says Montaigne. “It’s gonna be like a grand quest, and what we’ll be questing for is les frissons which come with live performance.”
The album of course follows her 2014 Life of Montaigne EP, not to mention some high profile collabs with the likes of Hilltop Hoods, Urthboy, and Gang of Youths, and sees her plunge headlong into the world of soaring ’80s pop and histrionic vocals.
Recorded between Sony Studios and Sydney’s Studios 301, Montaigne wrote the album in close collaboration with producer Tony Buchen of The Preatures and Andy Bull fame.
Glorious Heights is the distillation of Montaigne philosophy of “empowerment by means of self-improvement”. Speaking of said message, she explained how important it is for her/us: “to be able to identify ones weaknesses, analyse them, and mitigate them” adding that she wants “people to realise that the warrior of this age is the kind that combats evil by refusing to take part in the processes that sustain it.”
The national tour kicks off at Brisbane Festival on Tuesday 13th September. Glorious Heights is available for pre-order now ahead of its Friday 5th August release.
