Late Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister‘s death certificate states the rocker died from prostate cancer and congestive heart failure, confirming he was indeed battling an aggressive form of cancer prior to his death in December, aged 70.
Acquired by TMZ, Kilmister’s death certificate states that he died on 28th December at around 3:45pm, and had also suffered from an irregular heartbeat (cardiac arrhythmia). Aside from Kilmister’s prostate cancer and heart failure, no other conditions are said to have led to his death.
In a statement following Kilmister’s death, Motörhead said their frontman had learned of his cancer diagnosis on 26th December while he was at home playing video games.
Kilmister’s health issues in recent years, including diabetes, a hematoma and a lung infection, saw Motörhead postpone a number of shows.
Kilmister, who had both alcohol and tobacco habits for decades, was honoured by rock royalty in a live-streamed funeral at Hollywood’s Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery earlier this month.
Since then, Kilmister’s passing has inspired everything from a huge tribute show to a petition which managed to get the ‘Jack & Coke’ renamed ‘A Lemmy’.
