Offbeat singer/songwriter Phil Elverum has taken to his website and posted news that his indie folk band Mount Eerie will be headed to Australia sometime during January/February of next year. The timing of the freshly announced tour makes Mount Eerie a viable candidate for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival.
Tone Deaf has reported that the rumours on Laneway lineup possibilities are starting to circulate with acts such as Divine Fits and Yeasayer being speculated as appearing on the bill along with Mount Eerie. Divine Fits – a supergroup comprised of members from New Bomb Turks, Spoon and Wolf Parade – confirmed in a recent interview that the band will be visiting Australia during January.
Meanwhile Yeasayer has also confirmed an Australia tour during the opening month of 2013, and Canadian rock duo Japandroids revealed loose plans to be in the country around the same time as the Laneway Festival.
“From what I understand we’re coming in February. Don’t quote me on that quite yet,” said Japandroids’ Brian King.
