UPDATE 22/10/15: Mountain Sounds Festival has dropped its first 2016 lineup announcement, including acts such as The Strokes’ guitarist Albert Hammond Jr., Melbourne indie outfit Alpine, dance trio Art vs Science and the event’s headliners, The Jezabels.
Dear Sir/Madam,
You are cordially invited to take part in the third annual Mountain Sounds festival, taking place on Saturday, 20th February 2016 at its ancestral home of the Mount Penang Parklands in Kariong, NSW.
The rural romp is back for its third roll in the hay, promising punters its biggest year yet.
After absolutely nailing its sophomore sojourn (read our rave review of the event here), the boutique Central Coast festival plans to up its game in 2016 by expanding into five stages (including a new ‘secret’ area) as well as offering up the usual markets, pop-up bars, live art and installations.
Next year’s event will (naturally) once again be environmentally sustainable, festival-goers will be given the option of camping out under the stars, and organisers Adam Masters and Clayton Parker have teased that punters should just generally “expect weirder…”
“We’re noticing that more and more people are coming to the festival regardless of who’s playing which is exciting!” they said in a joint statement. “The festival in 2016 will be our third year of operation and even after selling out this year, we will be stepping up in all aspects with new experiences whilst maintaining our core values and objectives. Expect weirder…”
The previous two years have featured bills packed with Australia’s musical elite, including the likes of Alison Wonderland, Sticky Fingers, SAFIA, Ball Park Music, The Kite String Tangle and many more.
And the festival’s 2016 line-up promises to follow suit, touting “some of the most diverse acts in the country”.
Stay tuned for the first line-up announcement, which is due to drop later this month.
Earlybird tickets to Mountain Sounds 2016 are on sale now, while a pair of launch parties have also just been announced.
The first one, for Sydney punters, will take place at Bondi Junction’s El Topo Basement on Friday, 23rd October and feature performances by Yahtzel (Dj Set), POOLCLVB, Surfdisco, Elijah Scadden, Slippery Trout DJs, Mountain Sounds DJ’s and Oh Glam.
