DAAAAAYMNNNN! Last Friday we got a bit of late notice that the girls from California based band WARPAINT wanted to come party at MUM and even DJ some of their favourite tunes – it was alll time! But what do you expect when you welcome four of the hippest looking indie girls from one of the hottest bands of the summer and jam them and loads of their fans into a little sweatbox room?! If you missed them then I hope you’ve got tickets to LANEWAY FESTIVAL to see them.
Let’s bring it forward 7 days and welcome another 6 bands, 10 DJs and 1000 party people…
The backroom this week has the most fun lineup of bands MUM has seen in months.
THE HONEYPIES have that 1950s summer beach party sound that everyone is so hyped about, BHANGLASSI have a hint of the KAISER CHIEFS about them and the Sydney based band’s song ‘Everything is Amazing’ could well be an ode to their collection of fast indie tunes. OUR MONK will also be out the back making you clap your hands and stomp your feet before our January residents SALOONS give us their final set for the month and prove why they’ve been able to keep people around till 3am every week!
We’ve got three bands on upstairs, 2 of them are secrets but the one you need to know about is WORLD CHAMPION who’s song ‘Dream’ should of been playing in the background as I read Peter Hook’s story about the Hacienda.
And there’s 10 DJs doing the business all night including Walkie Talkie who’s just finished playing at the BIG DAY OUT, Sammy K, Nic Yorke, Jenny Kong, Mush, Jack Shit, Cries Wolf DJs, Party By Jake DJs, Wet Lungs and Hayley from Chain Gang.
Oh yeah, don’t forget that students get looked after with FREE entry until 10pm and only $10 after plus $12 Teapots ALL NIGHT!
