Making their virgin voyage to our shores, New Orleans genre-bending three-piece MUTEMATH have just announced they will be embarking on a national tour of Australia in May, hitting the major East Coast cities and shooting over to Perth as well as venturing out for some regional shows as part of the 2012 Groovin The Moo line-up.
Releasing their first EP in 2004, MUTEMATH have earned themselves a reputation for flexibility, critics praising the band for what they describe as their challenging and expansive approach to different genres and their ability to fuse them together into some original and new. Their latest album Odd Soul was featured as triple j Album Of The Week, and so now they’re here, ready to delight their legion of newly won fans.
The album itself sounds like the title implies, the band fusing together different elements of soul and gospel with modern electronica, all rooted in New Orleans rhythm and blues. They recently released a video to accompany album track Allies, which you can watch below. Full tour dates under the video; tickets on sale Tuesday 28th February 9am.
