My Bloody Valentine has caused some fresh excitement, announcing onstage that their new album may be released this week. As reported by Consequence Of Sound, MBV frontman Kevin Shields said the band’s third album “might be out in two or three days”.
Shields broke the news during a currently underway London gig after My Bloody Valentine debuted a presently unidentified new song. Some people in attendance quickly tweeted the news, with Twitter user Dr Kiko comparing the new MBV tunes to The Milltown Brothers.
My Bloody Valentine are due to play in Australia as part of All Tomorrow’s Parties I’ll Be Your Mirror Festival in February. If the news is accurate, Australian fans will have a couple of weeks to absorb the new album before MBV visit Melbourne.
Update: Footage has emerged of the band debuting their first new song in over 20 years, as well as Shields’ “announcement”. Stay on Music Feeds for more details.
