A 15-second commercial containing what is believed to be new music from Daft Punk aired unexpectedly during Saturday Night Live in the USA overnight.
As reported by Pitchfork, the ad went something like this: some funky background music, a glittery Daft Punk logo, followed by the image from their recent announcement of announcing a new record deal at Columbia Records, and then an abrupt ending.
You can watch the short clip at the bottom of the page, and nod your head to the sassy music featured within it.
Earlier this week, Daft Punk confirmed that they had switched to Columbia Records after the record label’s logo appeared in a picture featuring the band’s iconic robot helmet.
Daft Punk’s first studio album in a decade (and first with Columbia Records) is expected sometime in 2013. Early reports from a French newspaper indicated that it would be out in ‘spring’ (aka Australia’s autumn).
Rumours have been constantly popping up about the band’s return to the live stage. They were linked to two of the world’s biggest festivals, Coachella and Glastonbury – but have since been ruled out of both.
