New Album On The Way From Patrick Wolf

Androgynous British talent Patrick Wolf has revealed details of his new album. Lupercalia is set for release through Hideout Recordings/Mercury on May 30 in the UK, an Australian date is yet to be confirmed.

Lupercalia represents Wolf’s (real name Patrick Dennis Apps) fifth album and follow-up to 2009’s The Bachelor. Pitchfork explains how Wolf produced the album himself and plays viola, piano, dulcimer, guitar, Moog and timpani. He recorded it in the UK, Spain, France Los Angeles and Germany, while the album benefits from choral and string contributions. New song The City, the new album’s second single, has been doing the internet rounds.

Patrick Wolf has a solid following in Australia and has been over a couple of times. A rather mercurial talent, his powers as a songwriter and musician are matched by a pretty feisty temper, as can be seen in this now-legendary footage of a show at the C/O Pop Festival in Germany:
