Fans thankfully won’t have to wait another decade-plus for new Apex Twin music following the release of last year’s acclaimed sixth studio album Syro, as the the pioneering electronic musician also known as Richard D.James has announced the arrival of a new 13-track EP at the end of this month.
Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt. 2, is set to drop on January 23rd 2015, according to a tweet from Aphex Twin which also included minimalistic artwork and a trademark obscure tracklist. The EP follows 2014’s Syro which the first album released under the Aphex Twin name since 2001’s Drukqs.
Since its September release, Syro has garnered both fan and critic acclaim alike and even received a Grammy nomonation in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category. Last year Aphex Twin further marked his return to the music scene by uploading a collection of previously unheard songs to SoundCloud, alongside material he says was created by his six-year-old son.
