It’s been four years since Australia’s purveyors of imaginative pop, Architecture In Helsinki, gave us their landmark album Places Like This, and it seems the long wait for their follow-up is over. The genre-crossing collective release Moment Bends in Australia on April 8 on Modular, with its UK release coming on April 11.
Pitchfork reports that the band, led by quixotic talent Cameron Bird, recorded the new album in their own Melbourne studio, Buckingham Palace. A taster of the Northcote-based band’s new material can be heard with new track Contact High, currently doing internet rounds.
Bird has said of the new stuff, “Moment Bends was all about being at one with our ideas, obsessed with popular music and falling in love with our hometown. We wanted to build a record to get lost in, a record that always feels exactly what you are feeling.”
Architecture In Helsinki play three festival dates in Australia, including the Playground Weekender this weekend, before jetting off to the US and Europe, then return home for a short domestic tour as part of the GTM Festival.
