Soundwave-bound industrial metallers Fear Factory have revealed that a follow-up to their 2012 album, The Industrialist, is tentatively slated for release in early 2015. Guitarist Dino Cazares says the band are currently completing their writing process, and will hit the studio next month to begin tracking the album.
“We’re doing pre-production right now and we’ll be in the studio next month to track the album,” Cazares explained to SiriusXM’s director of programming, Jose Mangin, earlier this week (via Blabbermouth). “We have a lot of songs written and we’re finishing the writing, which we’re almost done with,” he continued.
Back in May 2013, Cazares told Songfacts that Fear Factory would begin work on a new album after they finish touring The Industrialist, eyeing an early 2014 release, which was later pushed back to spring 2014, before Bell said in a March 2014 interview that he would like to have a new album out by August.
Asked about the sound of the new album, Cazares said, “Well, each one of our records are so different from each other. You know, it still sounds like Fear Factory. There’s still the killer guitar picking, the killer drum beats, Burt’s [C. Bell] beautiful vocals on the top of it, you know, that’s all still very much intact, but you always have to try and experiment and push your music to different places, you know what I mean?”
Cazares said the album would “land somewhere between” their seminal 1995 album, Demanufacture, and 1998’s Obsolete. The band’s last album, The Industrialist, received lukewarm reviews from fans and critics alike. Many listeners took issue with the band’s use of programmed drums instead of a live drummer.
Fellow Soundwave 2015 lineup act Marilyn Manson also recently confirmed that a new album is forthcoming. The shock rocker took to Twitter to confirm that the follow-up to his well-received 2012 LP, Born Villain, “is prepared for landing”, as he continues work on the latest season of Sons of Anarchy.

Atreyu (US): Last month's news that this California metalcore outfit was back after a lengthy hiatus delighted fans worldwide. Now they're just hoping that they'll bring over some of the new music they've been working on when they make their Soundwave debut. -

The Aquabats (US): Describing this California ska outfit is about as hard as not dancing whenever they're onstage. Though their visual style comes straight out of a '60s Z-movie, their tunes are vital, propulsive, and incredibly catchy. -

Area-7 (AUS): With quintessentially Aussie rallying cries like 'Nobody Likes A Bogan', it's little wonder Area-7 were being requested before the dust had even settled on Soundwave 2014. Part of this year's strong ska contingent, these Melbourne boys are witty, energetic, and always bring a party. -

Godflesh (UK): At a time when everybody was figuring out what bandwagon to jump on, Godflesh were busy making some of the most original and ultimately influential music of the early '90s. Maddah was determined to get them for Soundwave 2015 and their first time at the festival is sure to be something unforgettable. -
