Our friends at the Annandale are launching a new night showcasing the best of up and coming talent in Sydney. It’s called ‘Tone Defeat’ and the first one kicks off on Thursday 6th May at 7pm.
They’ve pulled an impressive lineup for their inaugural show, with five bands over two stages, so I’ll throw it over to them to fill you in on the bands that will be playing:

Fresh off the bill of Playground Weekender, these lads are delivering a unique brand of overdriven & hyperverbal rock with passion and poetry, sounding like pop put through a fuzzbox blender. Great fucking band. Come see what all the hype is about.

Belting out high voltage, rock’n’roll tracks that are stained with the hard edge of post-punk & the grit of dirty blues, they have been described as “Harking back to the glory days of dirty Australian rock’n’roll.” – Rusty Hopkinson | You Am I.

Taking their inspiration from experience, The Money Smokers hit you front on like a bus load of Dead-heads, sharing the blues with your soul and taking you on a dusty journey through a universal musical landscape. Hear it to believe it, see it to feel it.

These guys sound like a keg of dynamite and Coopers being skulled by Charles Bronson. This band is so awesome that the only acurate description of their aural qualities has to involve Charles Bronson. It should also be noted that due to their arrogance and foul odours, nobody likes the Colt 44’s.

After jamming together for two years, whilst battling a hectic schedule with other musical projects including Horrowshow, Spit Syndicate, & Sticky Fingers, the original crew are finally back to brew up their own flavour to create a new neo-soul sound coming straight out of the inner west of Sydney.
