Bernard Sumner of New Order has speculated that New Order may write some new music in 2012, according to a report by NME.
While being interviewed for XFM, Sumner first dismissed the notion of New Order returning to the studio but then gave fans a glimmer of hope
“Not even thinking about [writing and recording] at the moment because our heads are really on playing live,” Sumner said.
“Let’s see [about working on new material]. Hopefully there’ll be some recorded music as well,” he said.
What fans will not have to wait for, however, is seeing Sumner in the flesh, with New Order playing two Australian sideshows in March while touring with the Future MusicFfestival. Of course the band will be without original bassist Peter Hook who is engaged in legal action trying to prevent Sumner from touring under the name of New Order.
New Order will be out here for the Future Music Festival 2012 line-up in March, as well as playing a number of their own sideshows.
