New Study Finds That Psychopaths Prefer Justin Bieber’s Music

You may have always suspected it, but science has now confirmed that people who listen to Justin Bieber are more like to be psychopaths.

The Washington Post reports on a study undertaken by a pair of NYU Graduates which attempted to find any correlation between preferred listening genres of music and psychopathy.

It found that JB’s huge 2015 track ‘What Do You Mean’ was on the high end of popularity among participants who also scored highly on a the psychopathy scale.

Students at the high end of the scale also tended to enjoy ‘No Diggity’ by Blackstreet and ‘Lose Yourself’ by Eminem, while ‘My Sharona’ by The Knacks and ‘Money For Nothing’ by Dire Straits were popular with students on the lower end of the scale.

Psychopathy is a personality disorder, typically characterised by a lack of empathy and tendency to be manipulative.

The study failed to prove any pattern in which songs that were most popular among those high on the scale, but did debunk the researchers’ original theory that songs without lyrics would be some of the most popular.
