Nick Oliveri Arrested After Holding Girlfriend Hostage

Nick Oliveri, the former bass player of Queens Of The Stoneage, frontman of Mondo Generater and founding member of Kyuss, has been arrested in Hollywood.

Police were called to his house after a neighbour reported arguments between Oliveri and his girlfriend. Reports are that he then held his girlfriend hostage in a 2 hour stand of with a S.W.A.T team. The women told police he had hit her during an argument the day before and she was returning to pack up her stuff.

When the police searched Oliveri’s home on Hobart Boulevard, they found a fully loaded high-powered rifle.

Oliveri was booked on felony domestic violence. He has since been released after posting $100,000 bail.

Nick Oliveri was fired from Queens Of The Stoneage in 2004. At the time, frontman Josh Homme said it was because of disrespect of the group’s fans and excessive partying. However in 2005 Homme claimed in a BBC Radio 1 interview that Oliveri was fired when Homme had become convinced that he had been physically abusive to his (Oliveri’s) girlfriend of the time.

In 2011 Oliveri said he was on good terms with Hommes, but when he asked Homme if he could join the band for a song during a show in his home town, Homme replied : Nah, I don’t think that’s a good idea yet.
