Nikki Sixx Working On New Sixx:A.M. Material While Down Under

We all know that Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx is pretty good with keeping up to date with his journal, and his latest entry has shed some light on the new Sixx:A.M. album that has been suggested to arrive in 2013. Sixx has found the time and means to work on new material for the album while kicking it in Adelaide.

Sixx has previously explained to Loudwire that one of the biggest challenges for his side project was finding the brain space and time between his commitments with the Crue to work on new stuff. It’s funny to think that he’s managed to make it happen while on the other side of the world touring with Crue, but according to the journal entry, he works just as hard on tour as he does at home. “As beautiful as it is outside here in Adelaide today I think I’m just gonna hang in the room, finish off this song and then send to it James to lay into the session back in Nashville,” he writes, referring to a song sent through to him from a Sixx:A.M. band member that night.

Sixx explains in some detail the band’s unique recording process and perhaps why it’s taking so long, stating that, “The way Sixx:A.M. is recording this album is we all get together and write the songs face to face and then record it in pieces. Sometimes we’re together and sometimes we’re in separate towns (and countries) since none of us live in the same city. It’s really the best of both worlds creatively.”

The band seem to know as much about the new material as fans do at this point. Using the word “adventurous” to describe the album, Sixx adds, “To be honest I don’t think any of us know what this album will actually end up sounding like and for some odd reason I think we really like the idea of that.”

The below picture was included in the post, and isn’t particularly insightful, but it does show you just what Sixx gets up to on his down time Down Under. Motley Crue will be embarking on the remainder of shows for their Australian tour with Kiss.
