UPDATE: The QOTSA/NIN Australian tour has officially been announced – full details here!
It’s looking likely that the Nine Inch Nails–Queens of the Stone Age co-headline tour, which both bands teased last week, may see confirmation this Thursday when QOTSA frontman Josh Homme makes a phone-in appearance on triple j.
As FasterLouder reports, Homme is scheduled to phone into Lindsay “The Doctor” McDougall‘s drive time show on Thursday. With their most recent album having been released long ago, it’s most likely Homme will be phoning up to announce news of a tour.
Meanwhile, Frontier Touring, who retweeted the original teaser dispatched by NIN and QOTSA, revealed that they have “LOTS of tour announces” scheduled for this week. Frontier have already announced a string of Vampire Weekend sideshows and new Leonard Cohen dates.
Earlier this year, NIN project leader Trent Reznor assured Aussie fans that his band would be touring Australia soon, after fans hoping the band would headline Soundwave 2014 were left disappointed. Reznor tweeted, “Australia: we love you and we’re coming.”
Back in May, Homme told triple j‘s Tom and Alex that he wanted QOTSA to “tell our own stories,” opting to eschew making the festival rounds in favour of a headline tour. Homme called Australia his “home away from home.”
