Nine-Year-Old Ezra Blount Is The 10th And Youngest Person To Die After Stampede At Astroworld

Nine-year-old Ezra Blount has died at the weekend following the horrific injuries he sustained at Travis Scott‘s Astroworld festival.

He is the tenth and youngest victim to have passed away during the fatal crowd crush that occurred during the Houston festival on 5th November.

His death was confirmed by the Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner on Twitter.

“I am saddened to learn of Ezra’s death this evening,” Turner wrote.

“Our city tonight prays for his mom, dad, grandparents, other family members and classmates at this time. They will need all of our support in the months and years to come. May God give them strength. RIP Ezra.”

Prior to his death, Ezra was put into a medically-induced coma due to the horrific injuries he sustained to his heart, lungs and brain.

Ezra’s father Trenton Blount has in previous days, recalled what had happened at the festival to reporters.

He said the pair were in the crowd watching Travis Scott perform, with Ezra on his shoulders. They were then separated during the crowd surge, with Trenton passing out due to the pressure of the crowd. Ezra was then lost in the crowd and was trampled.

The family couldn’t find Ezra until later, where he was identified at a local hospital.

Ezra died on Sunday at a children’s hospital in Houston.

Over the weekend, 22-year-old electronics engineering student Bharti Shahani became the ninth victim of the Astroworld tragedy.

Currently, over 50 legal claims have been filed against the festival’s founder Travis Scott and promoters Live Nation.
