Former Nirvana bassist and US electoral reform advocate Krist Novoselic has revealed that he’ll be appearing on the upcoming sixth album from US indie band Modest Mouse. The bassist last appeared on seventh Foo Fighters album, 2011’s Wasting Light
Novoselic broke the news himself to Spotify Landmark, while Modest Mouse fan site Interstate-8 reports that Novoselic has described the new album was “pretty edgy,” adding “I’ve got my big Gibson bass and a Rat distortion pedal busting out…the bass riff.” Novoselic has spent his time since Nirvana’s dissolution balancing his music career with a life in American politics.
The as-yet-untitled album will be Modes Mouse’s first full-length release since 2007’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. The band released an EP in 2009, titled No One’s First and You’re Next, with few appearances in recent years. They debuted a new song, Be Brave at the Coachella festival earlier this year.
