No Use For A Name Frontman Tribute Album To Feature Frank Turner, NOFX, Rise Against + More

Now almost a year since the untimely departure of No Use For A Name frontman, Tony Sly, plans have been made public about a tribute album featuring some of the biggest names in the scene. Fat Mike of NOFX has revealed a long list of bands set to pay their respects via the release, which will hit the streets in “a few months.”

Current star of the UK Folk Punk movement, Frank Turner, has been tagged to be involved alongside Dropkick Murphys, Lagwagon, Bad Religion, Pennywise, Rise Against, Bouncing Souls and of course NOFX. The record will be compiled by Fat Mike and released through his Fat Wreck Chords record label.

Speaking of the tribute album, Mike explained to Rocksound TV:

“Tony was a fucking amazing songwriter and one of my dearest friends. His death was traumatic. Horrible. I’ve had friends die, but this was different. Tony wasn’t finished. I’ve been putting together this tribute comp for some time. It’s incredible how many bands have called me wanting to be on it. Its been my absolute privilege to put this together.”

He then goes on to elaborate:

“All the bands are doing No Use for a Name songs or Tony Sly songs with their own take. It’s a real tribute to his songwriting… These bands were his closest friends and his favourite bands. I thank all of them for stepping up and showing their love and respect to Tony and his family.”

First joining the band at the mere age of 18, Sly went on to release a massive 9 studio albums with No Use For A Name. Throughout his career, he also enjoyed success as a solo artist, dropping two albums under his own name.
