The NSW Government has outlined its “roadmap to freedom” for fully vaccinated residents of the state, which will be implemented the Monday after NSW passes the 70% double-dose vaccination target (currently modelled to be around mid-October).
In terms of live music and entertainment, there are a number of significant restrictions that will be lifted once NSW reaches its 70% target of vaccination against COVID-19. Major recreation outdoor facilities including stadiums will be able to reopen with one person per four square metres, capped at 5000 people.
Up to 500 people will be able to attend ticketed and seated outdoor events, and indoor entertainment facilities such as theatres, music halls and cinemas will be able to reopen with one person per four square metres or 75% fixed seated capacity.
Hospitality venues will be able to reopen subject to one person per four square metres inside and one person per two square metres outside, with standing while drinking permitted outside. Masks will remain mandatory for all indoor public venues, but only hospitality staff will be required to wear a mask when outdoors.
There are a number of other freedoms that will come into place for vaccinated adults after hitting the 70% target. Up to five visitors will be allowed in a home where all adults are vaccinated and up to 20 will be able to gather in outdoor settings. Retail stores and personal services such as hairdressers and nail salons will be able to reopen under the one person per four square metre rule, along with gyms and indoor recreation facilities.
Only fully vaccinated people and those with medical exemptions will have access to the freedoms outlined in the Reopening NSW roadmap.
“I cannot stress enough how important it is for people to get vaccinated,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian commented in a statement. “If you have not had both doses of the vaccine by the time we hit the 70 percent milestone, you will not be able to take advantage of these freedoms.”
