One Flew East Fire Away with Panic Notes EP

Meet Sydney ’s freshest pilgrims of funk rock. The brainchild of Richard Lucano (vocals/keyboards), Daniel Griffith (guitar), Dane Connor (drums) and Nate Chan (bass), One Flew East are set to take your hearts and minds hostage with their debut EP, “Panic Notes”, launching Nov 19 at Oxford Art Factory’s Gallery.

The band will be touring NSW in November to promote the release, with the fiery “Queen” leading the charge as the EP’s first single (Track 1 on Panic Notes).

Fusing groove-laden soul with infectious melodies reminiscent of Incubus or The Verve, One Flew East pitch this force against a grinding funk that crunches like an angry Sly Stone. Southern blues flavours steer guitar lines, blending the early 90’s rock aesthetic with refreshing hooks and anthemic choruses.

“They have that quality that makes you want to scream, that sort of sound that would work as well in a stadium as it does in a club.” Music Feeds (2009)

The band have enjoyed a swift rise since forming in 2008, receiving a MusicOz Award nomination and beating more than 100 bands to win the Jager Uprising 08/09 semi-final at The Annandale in Sydney. Their tunes have also been heard on FBi, JTV and the soundtracks of two short films. On the live front, One Flew East have packed out local Sydney haunts including The World Bar, Sosueme at Q-bar, The Annandale and The Hopetoun.

July 2009 saw the band record their debut EP at East St and Level 7 Studios in Sydney, with producer Anthony The (Youth Group, The Vines). The kicking five-track debut harnesses the raw energy that has earned One Flew East a dedicated following on the live scene and highlights the band’s depth as songwriters. Songs soar through tales of epic battles, gypsies, adventures to lost cities, space, and, of course, love – all set to a soundtrack born from hours of psychedelic mayhem and improvisation.

One Flew East launch their debut EP, “Panic Notes” in November 2009.
