Original Superheist Drummer Sean Pentecost Has Passed Away

Sean Pentecost, original drummer and founding member of Australian metal band Superheist, has passed away.

The band shared the news on social media yesterday, writing, “It’s with a heavy heart that we bring the sad news of the passing of the great Seanheist. Sean Pentecost, the original Superheist drummer passed away in his sleep in his home in St.Kilda.”

They went on to say that Pentecost was an integral part of the band throughout their heyday, having formed Superheist in Frankston, Victoria back in 1993 alongside co-founding members Rod McLeod, DW Norton, Fetah Sabawi and Adrian Sudborough. Pentecost played drums on several releases including 8 Miles High, The Prize Recruit, Identical Remote Control Reactions and more.

After leaving the band in 1995, Pentecost rejoined the band three years later and remained behind the drumkit up until 2004, when Superheist disbanded.

“Sean was a dynamic drummer and even better person,” the band added in their tribute to the late drummer. “Sean is a great loss to the Heist family and his memory will live on in the music he created. Sean’s favourite Superheist song was ‘Beachview’. Give it a spin and raise your glass to SeanHeist. May he rest in peace.”

You can do exactly that below.
