Passion Pit Cancel Australian Tour Due To Health Issues

American indie pop outfit Passion Pit have overnight cancelled their upcoming Australian tour, due to kick off later this month, due to frontman Michael Angelakos’ lingering health issues.

Passion Pit were due to play Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on Friday, 21st August before moving on to Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and finally the Tivoli in Brisbane. They were to be supported by The Griswolds.

Angelakos recently cancelled a sting of festival appearances in Canada due to “lingering issues with bronchitis/pneumonia” and according the band’s Australian promoters Frontier Touring “doctors have now mandated that the next few weeks be used for rest and recuperation.”

The band also cancelled all their upcoming international gigs, including shows in Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Japan.

“Michael Angelakos is devastated and would like everyone to know that he’s working to get healthy as soon as possible,” continues the statement.

“Passion Pit will work to visit all of the countries involved as soon as possible, and Michael and the team would like to thank all of the promoters and fans for their patience and understanding during this difficult time.

“All we can say is how grateful we are for the opportunity and, in better health, that we greatly look forward to making up these shows and seeing everyone soon.”
