Legendary singer-songwriter Patti Smith has announced what will be her final Australian concert. The show will be taking place in Melbourne this April, and will feature a support slot from Australia’s Courtney Barnett.
Smith’s announcement of yet another new Melbourne show comes after selling out six headline dates across Melbourne and Sydney, alongside her two scheduled appearances at Byron Bay Bluesfest in the same month.
Smith’s last ever Australian concert, which will take place at Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Thursday, 20th April, will see Smith and her band perform a stack of originals (and even some covers) from her 11 studio albums. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee will be joined by longtime bandmates Lenny Kaye and Jay Dee Daugherty, with Tony Shanahan on piano/bass and Andy York on guitar.
Barnett, who has been heavily influenced by Smith’s work, will open the show in what’s currently her only scheduled Australian performance for 2017.
