In the name of their charity event ‘Who Cares For The Next Generation’, The Who have been joined by a list of heavy hitters in a backyard for an evening of high-profile live music and laughs.
As Consequence Of Sound reports, the event was USD$3,000 a ticket, and wasn’t held in just any old backyard — but it’s someone’s backyard nonetheless. For said $3,000, ticket holders were treated to the comedy stylings of David Spade, a live performance from Joan Jett and a charity auction hosted by Howie Mandel.
However, the coolest moment was a performance from Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, who busted out not just any timber and steel, but his famed ukulele. Vedder’s performance included renditions of Can’t Keep Up, Rise, Ukulele Anthem and Last Will and Testament, which he dedicated to the late musician Prince.
At one point in the performance Vedder was joined by Simon Townshend, Brother of Pete Townshend and known affiliate of The Who, for a version of the band’s single I’m The Answer. The onset of FOMO will be rapid and severe but don’t panic, the whole thing was caught on video, which you can catch below.
The ‘Who Cares For The Next Generation’ concert managed to pull in a cool USD$3.2 million for the UCLA Health Autism Treatment Program, as well as The Who’s own project ‘Who Cares Teen Cancer America Teenage Cancer Trust’.
Good guy moves all round.
