In an innovative new initiative, Promoter Chugg Entertainment has launched it’s first tour TV channel, pearljamtour.tv, to promote the band’s upcoming stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand.
The site will host a series of brand new video exclusives, or ‘webisodes’, with new content going live every week until the end of Pearl Jam’s November tour.
In the first episode, Michael Chugg speaks from his hotel room in London, prior to attending the one off Pearl Jam gig at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Tuesday, 11 August. His introduction of the series tells of upcoming episodes that will feature footage of Pearl Jam, as well as special guests Ben Harper and Relentless7 and Liam Finn.
The episodes, which will go live at http://pearljamtour.tv every Sunday and will be available to view through YouTube, MySpace, Facebook and iTunes, will look at different aspects of the artists and the tour, including the fans, the venues, retrospectives, album previews and more.
Michael Chugg, Executive Chairman of Chugg Entertainment is thrilled to announce the new venture: “I’ve been in this business since all we had to promote our shows was radio, putting up posters and handing out flyers. These days, there is a whole new world of promotional opportunity out there and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. The digital space is infinite and it’s where so many music fans are spending all of their time, they are hungry for more content and an insight into the artists that they love – so that’s what we’re giving them.”
In another exciting digital initiative, Pearl Jam fans have the option to pre-order the new album, Backspacer, including an exclusive, live bonus track (Last Exit) with their concert tickets for the November tour. The pre-order is available at an additional cost of AUD$15.00 on top of the ticket price.
Fans also have the opportunity to purchase a tour bundle which will not only include Pearl Jam’s new album, with the live bonus track, but will also include digital versions of Ben Harper and Relentless 7’s White Lies for Dark Times album, and the new EP from Liam Finn with Eliza Jane, Champagne In Seashells, for an additional AUD$31.00 on top on the ticket price.
Backspacer is scheduled for release in Australia and New Zealand on Friday, 18 September. Preceding this is the first single, The Fixer, which was the most added song to Australian radio the week of it’s service and is released digitally this Friday, 21 August.
