The 2017 inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame have been unveiled, with seven acts to be inducted next year, including rock icons Pearl Jam, late rapper Tupac Shakur and prog-rock masterminds Yes.
American folk singer Joan Baez, English rockers Electric Light Orchestra and Don’t Stop Believin’ hitmakers Journey round out the class of 2017, with music legend (and Daft Punk collaborator) Nile Rodgers also set to be inducted while receiving an Award For Musical Excellence.
The 2017 Rock Hall nominees who won’t be inducted next year are Bad Brains, Janet Jackson, Jane’s Addiction, Kraftwerk, Chic, Chaka Khan, Depeche Mode, The Cars, MC5, The Zombies, J. Gelis Band, Steppenwolf, Joe Tex and The J. Geils Band.
Over 900 voters chose which acts would be next year’s Rock Hall inductees, together with the results of an online fan vote which was topped by Electric Light Orchestra, Journey, Pearl Jam, and Yes.
Artists are only eligible for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 25 years after the release of their first recording.
The 32nd annual Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony is set to take place on Friday, 7th April 2017 at Barclays Center in New York.
