Pearls Return With Two New Singles, ‘Come See Me’ & ‘Heartbreaker’

Melbourne outfit Pearls have finally made their return today with the release of their new double side-A, ‘Come See Me / Heartbreaker’.

The two new singles mark the first output from the glam-pop act since 2016, and both are set to appear on the band’s forthcoming second album, due out later this year. The songs are also the first to feature new band members James L. Payne, Zoe L. Hunting and Sam Wass.

‘Come See Me’ is also set to play during the premiere of ABC TV and Netflix‘s new show, Why Are You Like This, created by Naomi Higgins, Humyara Mahbub and Aunty Donna’s own Mark Samuel Bonanno.

In addition, the band’s 2015 single ‘Big Shot’, taken from their debut album of the same year Pretend You’re Mine, will serve as the program’s lead single. Why Are You Like This premieres tonight (Tuesday, 16th February) on ABC at 8:45pm.

Of ‘Come See Me’, the band say it was “written by two people who had just broken up.

“It’s a tug of war between rude guitars and barbarous lyrics. A spat, finished resolutely in under 3 mins.”

Of ‘Heartbreaker’, they say it’s about “being left bewildered in the ashes of something you thought was going to be with you forever but ends up turning you into a stranger in the eyes of someone you loved.”

Listen to both ‘Come See Me’ and ‘Heartbreaker’ below.
