It’s been an absolutely chaotic couple of days for attendees, artists and organisers of the Lorne leg of Falls Festival, with the event being cancelled after the first day due to the looming fire threat.
But, proving the strength and resilience of this country’s awesome music community, many artists on the bill pulled whatever strings they could to organise some last minute gigs for fans, with profits all going to the fire services across the country that have been working so tirelessly.
Peking Duk were one of such acts, playing a huge gig at St. Kilda’s Hotel Esplanade last night, and made an absolute fuckton of money – $50,000 to be exact.
“We raised $44,500 through ticket sales, merch sales and donations,” the electronic duo wrote on Instagram.
“Our heart breaks for the victims so we have decided alongside the Espy that we are are going to round up that figure to $50,000.”
“The donation will be split evenly amongst RFS-QLD, RFS-NSW, CFA-VIC & Red Cross Fire Appeal.”
The show had a slew of special guests, including the likes of G Flip and Tones And I.
Peking Duk are just one of the acts putting on make-up/benefit gigs. Halsey, Yungblud and Holy Holy all played various gigs last night, with acts like WAAX, G Flip and Lime Cordiale doing so over the next few nights.
