Back in 2013 Perth mashup king Jaymee Franchina was so inspired by Flume‘s debut album that he created an entire album combining Flume’s production with some of the most iconic lyrics from Notorious B.I.G.
B.I.G. Flume gained more than 20 million plays and was even shared by Flume himself, so it was perhaps only a matter of time before Franchina unveiled a new project making use of Flume’s 2016 ARIA award-winning album Skin.
The new mashup album is called B.I.G. Flume Part 2Pac, and sees Franchina utilise some simply stunning rhymes from the late Tupac Shakur. As well as using track from Skim and Skin Companion, the record contains production from some of Flume’s earlier tracks including ‘I Met You’ which fits together with 2Pac’s ‘Hit Em’ Up’ perfectly.
Franchina told Music Feeds that having Flume share his original album changed his life and gave him the motivation to create this second project. “This mixtape was forever coming,” Franchina said. “After creating the first album and see it blow up, people were asking if I ever was to release another one. So over the years I created several mashup mixtapes whilst awaiting for Flumes new album.”
“I loved creating this album, but it was difficult as Tupac Shakur is an incredible rapper but to have him hitting the correct vocals on Flume’s unique beat took time to craft,” said Franchina.
