Perth Prog Metal Lords Voyager Launch Bid To Represent Australia At Eurovision 2022

Move over Måneskin: an Aussie metal band is officially gunning for your Eurovision crown.

Perth progsters Voyager have volunteered as tribute, putting their hands (and keytars) up to represent the green & gold at next year’s sequin-studded song contest.

But before they get over to Italy, they’ll have to beat out some tough local competition first.

The band have today announced they will compete in Eurovision – Australia Decides next February — a national live music tournament, televised on SBS, which will see the people of Down Under vote for the artist they most want to champion Australia at Eurovision 2022.

Voyager will go head-to-head against the likes of previous Eurovision contestant Isaiah Firebrace, local indie-pop icon Jaguar Jonze and Australian Idol legend Paulini in the bout, with the full lineup set to be revealed shortly.

Danny Estrin, Voyager’s lead vocalist and keytarist (who FYI is also a long-time Eurovision fanatic and an award -inning, multilingual lawyer) had this about Voyager’s inclusion in this year’s competition: “Eurovision is the greatest show on earth, so getting a chance to represent Western Australia and to showcase our keytar driven brand of heavy music is one of the most exciting and surreal opportunities to ever come our way!! So thank you Australia for giving us the opportunity to take you on a Voyage with us in what has been a lifelong dream.”

Eurovision – Australia Decides will take place on the Gold Coast on Saturday, 26th February 2022, hosted by Joel Creasey and Myf Warhurst and broadcast on SBS. Tickets are available here.

And ICYMI Australia was represented at this year’s Eurovision by Montaigne, who performed her song ‘Technicolour’ remotely from Australia due to COVID-19 concerns. Revisit that performance below.
