Pet Shop Boys’ Greatest Hits Concert Film ‘Dreamworld’ is Coming to Australian Cinemas

Pet Shop Boys have shared details of their forthcoming concert film Dreamworld, which will be screened globally across two nights in early 2024. Fans around Australia will have the opportunity to watch the band’s greatest hits on the big screen on Wednesday, 31st January and Sunday, 4th February.

Dreamworld was filmed during the Pet Shop Boys performance at The Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, in July of this year. The tour was in support of the band’s extensive singles compilation. Smash, which compiles all the major singles the band released between 1985 and 2020. The majority of these feature in the Dreamworld setlist, including ‘Domino Dancing’, ‘What Have I Done to Deserve This?’, ‘It’s a Sin’ and ‘West End Girls’.

‘West End Girls’, the Boys’ breakout single, has been in the news twice in the last few months: firstly, as an uncredited interpolation on the latest Drake album, and then more recently in the form of a cover version by Sleaford Mods, which was approved by the Pet Shop Boys themselves.

Pet Shop Boys have not performed in Australia since 2014, where they performed two nights at Carriageworks as a part of that year’s Vivid Sydney event. Prior to that, the group’s visits down under were intermittent at best: their last full-scale tour was in 1994; they returned for V Festival in 2007; and played a one-off Sydney show on New Year’s Eve in 2011.

Tickets for the Dreamworld screenings go on sale next Tuesday, 6th December, at 9am local time. A full list of participating cinemas can be found below.
