Late Pantera, Damageplan and Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul (full name Vincent Paul Abbott) has been honoured by friends, family and fellow artists at a public memorial in Dallas, Texas.
The ‘Vinnie Paul Celebration of Life’ tribute took place on Sunday, 1st July, and featured tributes from the likes of former Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo and Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor.
In his video tribute to Vinnie, Anselmo said, “Vince, always have love in my heart for you, man. Rest in peace.”
In his tribute, Corey Taylor said, “You gave me some of the best advice I’ve ever had in the darkest times of my life, and I never forgot it. You were an amazing friend, and I love you. I miss you.
“Sending all my love to you, to your family and all of our friends. Peace brother.”
The likes of KISS drummer Peter Criss, Overkill drummer Jason Bitner, Sammy Hagar, Five Finger Death Punch bassist Chris Kael and members of Drowning Pool also paid tribute, while Vinnie Paul’s drum was reportedly played by Anthrax’s Charlie Benante and Lamb of God’s Chris Adler.
