ORIGINAL STORY: Former Pantera vocalist and his backing band, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, have just let slip that they’ll be touring Australia in March next year.
During an interview with Hellbound, Anselmo and guitarist Mike DeLeon were talking about plans for 2019, and how they definitely have things going on in March.
“Yeah, we’re gonna be headed to South America through mid-January and mid-February. Then we’re gonna come home and then we got some more stuff lining up in Australia in March, man,” said DeLeon.
This is very interesting given the fact that Download Festival will be happening at that time, and the festival is still planning to add another 13 more acts to its roster .
In the interview, Anselmo also expressed his affinity for Australian metal.
“I’ve been immersed in Australian death metal, mainly Portal,” he said. “Those were some big influences going in.”
This isn’t the first time he’s expressed love towards Australian metal acts, having recently been joined by King Parrot singer Matt Young for a performance of Pantera’s ‘I’m Broken’.
So far, the Download Festival 2019 lineup includes the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Judas Priest, Alice In Chains, Ghost, Rise Against and more.
