Phoebe Bridgers performed at the Austin City Limits festival in the Texas state capital over the weekend. Bridgers and band were part-way through their final song, ‘I Know The End’, when the front of house sound was completely cut off.
The crowd booed and many speculated it was due to Bridgers’ set having run over time. But the artist was not impressed with such an unprofessional act, tweeting “lol fuck acl” not long after getting off stage.
The ACL festival organisers have now responded to the incident, releasing a statement of explanation and apology.
“Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication on stage by ACL Festival personnel, the sound on the final song of [the] Phoebe Bridgers set was cut off during her ACL Fest weekend two performance. We wish this had not happened and extend our apologies to Phoebe,” they wrote, per the Austin American Statesman.
The festival has also come to an agreement with Bridgers to make a donation to a charity of her choosing. “After positive conversations between festival organizers and the artist about the situation, ACL Fest has made a donation to Texas Abortion Funds to show our support for Phoebe and an organization close to her heart,” they said.
ACL tweeted about their apology, to which Bridgers responded, “Thank you.”
