Phoenix fans of Australia will most likely need to sit down before taking in this news, as not only have your band released a remix of their track Trying To Be Cool featuring R. Kelly, but the Frenchmen have also confirmed that they will once again be touring our stages come March of next year.
PHOENIX HEADLINING AUSTRALIAN TOUR DATES HERE!
Frontman Thomas Mars spoke to triple j this morning about the new track and, when put to the coals by Tom and Alex, locked in a March 2014 timeframe for the band’s return:
“We talked about it yesterday and we’re [touring] for sure in March. The whole month is clear for us so we’ll be enjoying some Australian sun then.”
Since the start of this year, rumours have been flying about when the band would return, with the release date of their latest album putting Splendour high on the possibilities list, however those suggestions made way for talk of a summer tour – March is technically Autumn, but who’s complaining.
As revealed last night, Live Nation have a big tour announcement lined up for next, and we’re guessing we’ll be seeing Phoenix announce their tour dates then.
As for the new track, it’s the end result of the band’s highly publicised collab with the R&B icon during their performance at Coachella. Trying To Be Cool not only features vocals from Kelly, but was also remixed by the dude so you’ll notice some major differences between this cut and the official album version found on the bands latest release Bankrupt!.
